Catlandia is developed by a small team of independent developers as a passion project. We love cats, and wanted to create an opportunity for you to be a cat yourself. We also think there's an audience for games you don't have to play forever — by design, we created Catlandia as an experience that can be picked up, enjoyed, and finished without a huge investment of time — yet allow it to fit within a larger narrative. We're excited to share this first peak into Catlandia with the Itch community.

Hi there, I beat the game - very cute, took about four hours total. There were some glitches I noticed: choosing to return to bed from the menu makes me unable to talk to any of the cats, purchase from store, or go to sleep. I have to leave that area of the map (exit to forest) and re-enter for it to work. Also at some of the notes and "key" items re-appear when I  re enter a map, so now I have an extra rope and tire in my inventory :) - nothing that made the game unplayable, but I thought I would point it out.

Also, if anyone is reading this knows the locations of these two notes, they are the only ones I'm missing so I'd appreciate at least a hint on where I can find them. I swear I've been all over the map but I must be missing something.

Thank you for letting us know about those bugs! We'll correct them in a future update for sure.

I will say that the last note in the list there is actually not in the game. Looks like that listing slipped in by mistake — it's actually tied to our next update and is not yet accessible. Just wanted to let you know because I bet it's frustrating to see that entry, sorry!

The other one though? It is in the game, though it is hidden from view. It's a bit of a secret one. ;)

hmmmmm, intriguing! Thanks for the hint! I will have to explore harder for secret nooks and crannies :)

How do I save the game? I can't seem to find a save button or a keyboard shortcut for it. I'd like to move the autosave into one of the save slots so I can start a new game. (This is on Windows.)

Open the menu by holding and releasing a click on your cat. There should be a save button in the lower right corner.

What is that font used for the trailer text? So crisp and clean!

I lost the video project so I can't check for absolute certainty, but 99% sure it's Avenir Black!

Thank you!

I love the game, however, after EVERY SINGLE BATTLE, I gain NO XP, and no Shineys. I can find loot and pick it up, but that's it. Mac Books Pro OSX 10.14 please help. (PS, I also got locked up on some of the menus as well. See Below)

We'll have a fix on the battles tomorrow.

For the menus, could you confirm you're using the most recent upload, and if so, which menus you're having an issue exiting?

Thank you! Sorry that you have to wait to keep playing!

Hey, thank so much for the quick reply.

I downloaded the game around 6 PM EST last night. When I was noticing I got no XP/no loot/no shineys after a battle multiple timess, both using classic & adaptive settings, I checked back & it said the latest version was 4 hours old. So I'm pretty sure it's the newest version.

The menu issue I has happened when I found the red bow hat, and I wanted to change gear/ I put the red bow hat on Nugget, then ... nothing. I was kind of stuck in the gear screen and I couldn't get out. I could "force quit" the game, but I couldn't get out of that screen any other way.

Thank you for looking into this. From the short bit I saw of the game, I adore it!

Thanks for letting us now. This fix should now be up.

I guess we owe people a little explanation here. We've had a stable version up on Steam for a couple of months, but we've been working on one last round of updates since then before moving onto our next project. The release we put on itch was based on what we thought was a stable version in the middle of those updates based on testing on Windows and mobile, but some interesting Mac-build-only bugs had popped in at some point. This was pretty unusual, but: lesson learned!

(these updates we mentioned won't affect the game as it is now, so don't feel like you're missing out by playing now rather than waiting — but do look forward to more news!)

Thank you so much for being available and willing to fix these little mishaps. I played again tonight with the new version you mentioned, and what a difference! Everything seems to be working, menus work fine and Nugget and Sausage are now getting XP/ shineys after a fight. Fantastic game,  I love it!

Good to hear and glad you're enjoying it!

In case any other Mac users encountered the menu bugs, we've discovered the source of the issue and will have a fix up soon!

Yay! Thank you!

The fix is up!

After opening any menu, interacting with any object, or talking to any character, my cat loses the ability to move. He just stands there completely stuck. I can only make progress by force quitting the game and starting at the last autosave. I also get permanently stuck in the item menu with no apparent way to close it. And weirdest of all, just after the tutorial, a duplicate cat without legs appeared and both are stuck. I'm using a '16 macbook pro running 10.15.5, using the downloaded posted yesterday. Help!

Thanks for these bug reports. We'll look into them ASAP!

When I read a note and then close the menu, I can't move... The same thing happens when I exit a battle; I can see the cats on the screen like I was still fighting, but I can also see my normal avatar. I can click myself and use the menu, and it works again if I save and quit, then go back. It's just annoying to have to go back to the main menu every time. Help! I'm on a mac, by the way.

Thanks for letting us know. We'll check these out and post a fix.

The fix is now posted.

Adorable, also, there's a demo for the Android version but I can't download the Android version, is the APK not available for it?

Hi! We had that demo version up long ago during development, but I don't see why we can't supply the finished game for Android here too. It will just take us a little time to make some adjustments, but I'll respond here when it's available.

Cool I'm also looking forward for this version! Thanks!

Thank you for including Catlandia in the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality! Cuteness overload and ginger cats :)

Umm, why when I open the game, it stops and takes me to it's Steam page, despise me buying it here?

Sorry, let us look into that. That should have been disabled for the Itch release. Could you confirm if that was Windows or Mac?

We've updated the file and it should be working correctly stand-alone now. Thanks for pointing that out to us!

No problem!
